Talking in Bed

I read this poem by Philip Larkin and it was very interesting. It talked about how relationships grow far apart without intimacy. Couples start out great and then they slowly grow apart. This can be the cause of the lack of talking to one another. Many couples do not talk about their feelings. They want to keep it inside because they think it will make the issue worse. Lying to your spouse will cause even more conflict. Even thought this poem was written in the 1960, it fits with the time period right now. So many couples get a divorce because they don't communicate with one another.

So confusing

The readign was so confusing this week. The poem The Waste Land was confusing to me. It was hard for me to understand what was going on. He describes the world how it was and how it is now. I think that having words in German did not help me to try to understand.
The Dead was sad. Why didn't she tell him about the other guy? I feel bad for them. You should always love the person that you married no matter what. I think that the wife should of told him at the very beginning of the relationship.

Down by the Salley Gardens

This poem is kinda sad. The guy rushes the girl into a relationship and now he is alone. I would say serves him right. How dare a guy push a girl to do something she doesn't want to do. I see that in my friends all the time. Why do guys always rush things? A relationship show be a friendship. You need to learn about each other first. That's what is so great when you date and hang out with the person. I think that guy needs to rethink his idea on how a relationship should be.

Goblin Market

This has been my favorite poem that I have read for this class so far. I don't like the sisterly love too much. I think it was going a little to far with sisters. I like how it talked about choosing right or wrong. That is so important these days. People make dumb decisions because they wanted to have fun even though it was wrong. I like how she used goblins to represent the devil. He always repeats or shows you things that tempt you. We always need to do what is right and not give in. Giving in comes with a price and it's not fun paying for it. So we should choose the right decision the first time.

Blog 4

In the poem The Forsaken Merman, poem was very hard for me to understand! I didn't know who was Margaret. Is she the lady's name? Why wouldn't she come down when someone would call her?
The Last Dutchess was interesting to me. The Duke was all about riches and wealth. He wants his women to know how great he is and honor that he has. To me, he seems to care only about himself. It also seemed that he could careless about his wife.

frankenstein

Wow! This book was not what I excepted. I was thinking that Frankenstein was the monster and the he did whatever his master told him to do. I thought he was green with big shoes and screws that came out of his head. I didn't know that Frankenstein was the creator and was afraid of the monster. It was a very dark book. The monster killed all those people just so his creator wouldn't be happy. The book was full of sadness. As I read it, I felt sad and sorry for the monster. He had no one to go to and his own creator didn't want anything to do with him. I also see this book as what people do to one another. We take in people that we approve of and reject others that don't fit in with us. I think its sad that we do that. I think that people need to give other people a chance and give them respect.

Blog 2

I remember reading Ancient Mariner when I was in high school. I didn't pay to much attention to the poem in high school but I really like it now. I think the mariner didn't want any help from anyone. He wanted to get all the credit for anything that happened.

Michael by William Wordsworth was a great poem. You can see that the father loves the son very much. This poem is a great example of some of the families today. My friends that I knew when I was young, our parents all had the same rules and morals. Some of my friends went the wrong way in life even though their parents showed them what was right. I think that some people will use their parents advise or deny it when they leave the home.
